The first César Ceremony Awards

The first Ceremony of the french Cinema

Created by George Cravenne, the Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques presents its first trophies, which are not yet in their final form, following the vote of 900 members in 13 categories. Jean Rochefort is the very first winner, for the César for Best Supporting Role. This first Ceremony, hosted by Pierre Tchernia, was directed by Jacques Demy and remains to this day the shortest in history, 1h40.
