Simão Cayatte

Biography

Simão Cayatte is a writer/director and actor. He completed his BA (Bachelor of Art) in Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths University in London and has since acted in theatre and film with renowned directors such as Werner Schroeter, Roberto Faenza, Carlos Saboga and Stan Douglas. He completed the Film MFA program at Columbia University in New York City and subsequently worked at Protozoa Pictures, Darren Aronofsky’s production company. His short film A Viagem (The Trip) had its international premiere at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival in Official Selection at the “Cinefondation” and won awards at a number of international festivals. More recently his short film Miami won the MotelX Award for Best Portuguese Horror Short in 2015 and was nominated for a Portuguese Academy Award. He currently resides in Lisbon, Portugal, where he also writes for film and TV.
