Michael Matthews
Biography
Michael Matthews co-founded Be Phat Motel Film Company in 2007 with the aim to develop and produce progressive cinema, and has seen a number of scripts into international development. In this period, Michael has also made award winning commercials and short films, working with brands such as MTV, Axe/Lynx, Nike, Kulula (airlines), Wrigleys and Smirnoff. His work has been nominated and won awards both locally and internationally. Five Fingers for Marseille, which premiered at TIFF 2017, is Michael’s feature directorial debut. Apocalypse Now Now, a dark, twisted fantasy set in Cape Town (inspired by his short film) is in development as Michael’s second feature film.
