Luz Olivares Capelle

Biography

Luz Olivares Capelle is a native of Rufino, Argentina. She studied Directing at the National Institute of Film Production and Experimentation in Buenos Aires and then at the Filmacademy in Vienna where she gratuated a master degree, directed by Michael Haneke. She is currently completing her studies in the Masterclass for Drawing and Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, by Gunther Damisch.Her first shorts have been screened in several galleries and museums, including the Museum of Moving Image (New York), M.U.M.O.K (Vienna), and M.A.L.B.A. (Buenos Aires) as well as in festivals: Rotterdam Film Festival, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Cork Film Festival etc.Her short film, Wald der echos, won the Austrian Film Prize 2017 and several national and international Awards for the Best short or medium-length film at the Diagonale, the Vienna Independent Shorts, the Thomas Pluch Screenplay Award, the Max Ophu¨ls Prize, and the Grand Prix for International short film at the Cork Filmfestival.
