Jonathan Dekel

Biography

Jonathan Dekel was born in Los Angeles but grew up in an agricultural village in central Israel. He spent his High School in California before coming back to Israel for his military service. He served as a combat doctor in one of Israel’s Special Forces units where he became an officer. More attracted to filmmaking rather than army duty, he made many shorts and documentaries during his service. He then attended the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem where he specialized in screenwriting and cinematography. Since then he has made many documentaries and shorts. He has just finished his first feature film script which will be developed at Sundance Screenwriting Lab.
