Hester Overmars

Biography

After having studied history of society at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, Hester Overmars directs her first film entitled “Randonneurs”, a 50 minutes documentary about her parents. She thereafter directs several films and documentaries inspired by strange and unusual situations.  She can be happy making documentaries about the arts, sports, business or politics, with people in different social-economic layers. It’s more about telling stories about real people in a way that shows their human value, their weaknesses and strength, their vulnerability.  About her main characters she says: ‘I love them all. For me, portraying people is like glancing into a mirror which reveals more than the outside-image.’
