Carolina Markowicz

Biography

Screenwriter and director from São Paulo, Brazil, Carolina Markowicz has written and directed 6 short films that were selected by more than 300 festivals all over the world, including Directors Fortnight – Cannes, Locarno, SXSW and TIFF, and have received more than 100 awards. O Órfão, her most recent film, won the Queer Palm in Cannes 2018 and has more than 50 awards so far. Carolina is currently working on her 2 feature projects: When My Life Was My Life is to be shot by the end of 2019, which won Ibermedia Grant and was selected to Australab and Cinemart- Rotterdam; and Toll which has just received the Tribeca All Access Development Grant. She was showcased in a piece at Indiewire in 2018 that portrayed “Some of the Most Exciting New Filmmakers”.
