Austėja Urbaitė

Biography

Since her childhood near Vilnius in Lithuania, Austeja Urbaite dreams of becoming a theater director before being seduced by cinema. She joined the Academy of Music and Theater of Lithuania to study film directing. Her first school films are quickly noticed (Prize for Best Short Film School in Vilnius IFF 2014) and selected in festivals (Sarajevo Film Festival, Behind the Curtain Festival, Krakow Film Festival etc.)Her first non-school short film, Tiltai, won the Best Short Film Silver Crane, the Best Lithuanian Film Award and the Best Baltic Film Award at the European Film Forum Scanorama 2015. She is currently assistant director and prepares her first feature film.
