Anna Paavilainen

Biography

Anna Paavilainen is a Finnish director, writer and actor. Her breakthrough performance as an actor was in Zaida Bergroth’s “The Good Son” (2011), of which Anna was nominated with The Jussi Prize (“The Finnish Oscar”). After several prestigious theatre, film and TV roles, Anna moved to Sweden to study at Stockholms Filmskola. Also, her play “Rape”, monologue play written, directed and performed by Anna and about the problematics and normalization of rape scenes in the theatre of 21st century Finland, was received with generous reviews and extensive attention in the media. The play has been translated into several languages.
