The artist
The Academy and CHANEL have chosen to entrust filmmaker Yann Gonzalez with the production of a film and photographic work bringing together all the Revelations of the year.
Yann Gonzalez is a talented young director whose two feature films have been widely acclaimed by critics. The first, “Les Rencontres d’après minuit”, was selected at the Semaine de la Critique in 2013. His second, “Un couteau dans le cœur”, was released in June 2019 after being selected in Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film
Yann Gonzalez offers us through this film shot on 35mm film and a duration of 2min20, his vision of this cinema in the making. Bewitching music, onirism and intensity are the key words of his creation.
It was screened from 16 to 29 January 2019 in more than 400 cinemas in France, thanks to the support of the UGC network.
The collector's album
Yann Gonzalez and his photographer Ella Hermë have produced a series of portraits of the Revelations, gathered in a collector’s album.
Like the film, these photos were also unveiled in a scenography designed by CHANEL, during the Revelations Evening on January 14, 2019, at the Petit Palais.
