CÉSAR & TECHNIQUES

César & Techniques Trophy 2017

The César & Techniques Trophy rewards a company in the technical film industry in France, for its ability to highlight an event or development strategy that is particularly synergistic with the film industry, or a particular contribution to film creation during the past year.

The winner

TAPAGES & NOCTURNES and its Managing Directors, Olivier Binet and Daniel Toni, received the 2017 César & Techniques Trophy, following a vote by the 1,049 technicians eligible for one of the five 2017 Technical César and the 181 production and post-production directors of the films eligible for the 2017 César for Best Film.

ANAPHI STUDIO

Anaphi Studio, a film post-production company, hosted this year more than 20 feature films.

Anaphi has accelerated its development by broadening its range of skills, in particular with a complementary image and digital laboratory service.

Its workforce has regularly evolved, allowing a qualitative service offer adapted to the market.

Anaphi in figures, it is 10 full-time employees, more than 90 intermittent employees throughout the year, 3 complementary service subsidiaries.

Anaphi Studio is located at Porte de Chatillon with its studios, auditorium, editing and calibration rooms.

AUTRECHOSE

Autrechose is a post-production structure specialized in the realization of digital visual effects.

Since 2001, Autrechose and its 2D & 3D computer graphic designers have been assisting various film and television productions in the study, supervision and production of their digital special effects.

Passionate about our profession, the image and the human relationships that are woven into artistic collaborations, our creativity and experience have been put to work on more than 140 films and approximately 120 TV dramas over the last 15 years.

COMPAGNIE GÉNÉRALE DES EFFETS VISUELS

Compagnie Générale des Effets Visuels, CGEV, is a company dedicated to the post-production of motion pictures, videos and television programs. Located in the heart of Paris, the team has a recognized know-how but also an extensive experience in feature films.

Since its creation, the Compagnie Générale des Effets Visuels has participated in the development of digital effects on numerous projects ranging from feature films to documentaries in a wide variety of genres.

The CGEV relies on its artistic know-how on a technical production line, involving high-end hardware, commercial software and in-house developments in order to optimize and master each step of the creative process. The manufacturing pipeline is designed to simplify the technical work of artists, allowing them to focus their talent on image quality.

The CGEV is involved in contributing to numerous cinematographic works and is dedicated to supporting directors during filming and post-production in order to bring their projects to fruition.

ECLAIR

Born in 1907 with the beginnings of cinema, Eclair (Ymagis Group) is a leader in the technical industries of cinema and audiovisual. PANAVISION ALGA

French leader in the rental of photographic equipment and machinery, and through its subsidiary Panalux, lighting equipment and trucks, Panavision Alga is :

Bruno Seznec, sound supervisor and mixer, created Piste Rouge Studios in 2000. A very modern facility in the heart of a commercial Paris, where many prestigious feature films and TV movies have been sounded and mixed. Present in three territories, the sites showcase a combined concept of creative teams and attached high-tech tools.

A total of 7 auditoriums and studios, 15 5.1 sound editing rooms, more than 20 technicians, a hundred or so actors or sound artists, provide a creative proposal to the most demanding producers throughout the year.

Tapages & Nocturnes has been specialising in the rental and sale of equipment for capturing, recording and transporting sound for 35 years now.

The company has a turnover of more than 7M€ for a staff of 37 employees including 25 technicians. It devotes more than 20% of its turnover to investment and research for innovation and is dedicated to supporting Film and Television productions, offering each Sound Engineer a range of services to facilitate filming.

In 2016 Tapages & Nocturnes has participated in numerous Short Films, Documentaries and Feature Films including :

Technicolor Paris offers its services to major studios and independent filmmakers alike, helping them distribute their content worldwide.

Voting process

The Technical Industries Committee makes a pre-selection of French technical services companies from among all those that have worked on at least one of the films eligible for the César for Best Film and have responded to the call for applications sent to them.
The winning company is then elected by all the technicians eligible for the five Technical Césars of the year as well as by the production and post-production directors of the films eligible for the César for Best Film.
Voting is carried out by secure electronic means, under the control of a bailiff, open at the end of December and closed at 7pm on the day of the César & Techniques Evening.

The committee

The Academy's Technical Industries Committee is pre-selecting six French technical services companies, from among all those that have provided technical services for at least one of the films eligible for the 2017 César for Best Film, and have responded to the call for applications that was sent to all of these companies.
It also awards a César & Techniques Special Award, intended to distinguish a French technical services company in the film industry chosen from among those with more than 50 permanent jobs.
